10 Inspiring New Year's Resolutions From Our Favorite Boss Ladies

Congratulations, you survived 2016! Now it's time to put pen to paper and make those New Year's resolutions for the year ahead. Starting off the year with a list of aspirations always feels exhilarating — like you have your whole life ahead of you to lose five pounds, learn a new language, and take your dream vacation. But then December rolls around and you realize you've barely checked off your list (don't worry, we're right there with you!).

So this year, we're looking to our favorite boss ladies — you know, the ones who seem to successfully do it all — to see how they plan to continue conquering the world in 2017, so we can take a hint and do the same.

Sara Sugarman, Founder & CEO of Lulu & Georgia

"Attempting to respond to emails within 24 hours: this reactive behavior is distracting and keeps me from the task at hand. In 2017, I am going to get to emails when time permits and focus on the tasks that make the most impact on my business." — Sara Sugarman, founder & CEO of Lulu & Georgia

Alli Webb, Founder of Drybar

"The last seven years have been so beyond amazing and super busy! So for 2017, I’m going to try to focus on my family — my boys are growing up so fast. One of the most rewarding things about Drybar has been seeing and hearing from so many women about how empowered they feel when they have a great blowout. I really want to build on that feeling and continue to empower women this coming year. My team and I already have some cool things brewing. Cheers to 2017!" — Alli Webb, founder of Drybar

Dallas Shaw, Fashion Illustrator

"I plan on becoming a bit more tech savvy this year — actually learning to use the fun electronics in the office, brushing up on some old programs, keeping my computer organized and backed up, and taking advantage of organization apps and calendars. I've never been a tech person but think I could use more organization, so this year seems like a good time to start. I’m already on the hunt for some sleek white speakers." — Dallas Shaw, fashion illustrator

Karena Dawn & Katrina Scott, Founders of Tone It Up

"We've realized that we're more accountable with our workouts when we schedule them with a gal pal, so we plan on adding more fitness dates with our girls! Helloooo morning hot yoga and TIU workouts! To kick off 2017, we're starting a brand new Tone It Up Challenge and we're going to be sticking to it 100 percent! We're talking meal plans, workouts, and deee-lish new recipes." — Karena Dawn & Katrina Scott, founders of Tone It Up

Noora Raj Brown, VP of Communications at goop.com

"I’ve always been an aggressive planner. I get anxiety on vacation if I haven’t researched it to death first. But, I’ve noticed the best things happen when you give up a little control. This year, I’m resolving to get comfortable with the idea of being uncomfortable — on vacation, at work, and in life." — Noora Raj Brown, VP of communications at goop.com

Jaclyn Johnson, Founder of Create & Cultivate

"Take time to enjoy the little successes along the way. Days go by in a flash, weeks in a minute, and years in seconds! Sometimes amazing accomplishments will happen and you don’t have time to take it in because you are right on to the next thing and the next thing. It’s so important, especially as an entrepreneur, to take time to celebrate your accomplishments, recognize them, and enjoy hitting milestones as they come along. For 2017, I want to be better about taking in everything that is happening both good and bad, versus moving right on to the next thing to do on my list." — Jaclyn Johnson, founder of Create & Cultivate & president at Small Girls PR

Marra St. Clair, Co-Founder of Project Juice

"Be completely present with whatever I am doing in each moment. As a brand new mama, wife, sibling, daughter, and business woman, I’ve become more and more adept at multi-tasking. The unfortunate downside of this is that the moments, days, and months begin to blur together when I am doing too many things at once. So, for 2017 I resolve to be present with what I am doing at each moment. I am setting "office hours" for work. I am planning to work out for shorter bursts of time at higher intensity and be fully in the moment during the workouts, without checking my phone. When I am with my son, I will be with my son. When I am with friends, I want them to have my full attention. Maybe I won't get as much done, but I think this resolution is going to make for a more joyful year!" — Marra St. Clair, co-founder of Project Juice

Gaby Dalkin, Founder of What's Gaby Cooking & Contributor at Cupcakes and Cashmere

"This coming year it's all about celebrating the other boss ladies in my life. So many of my friends are doing amazing things in their work, whether it's in the digital space or the traditional sense, and I think that's worth celebrating. Taking the time to plan get-togethers where everyone can come, relax, hang out, talk shop, and support each other is at the top of my list!" — Gaby Dalkin, founder of What's Gaby Cooking & contributor at Cupcakes and Cashmere

Michelle Cordeiro Grant, Founder & CEO of LIVELY

"I have been so fortunate to have had amazing female leaders support me throughout my career in such major ways, that have been truly instrumental to me getting to this incredible place with LIVELY. My goal and resolution for next year is to give back to the female community through both the LIVELY mission and personal efforts. I am privileged to meet so many amazing young women and I plan to focus on helping to empower, mentor, and build confidence in women of the next generation in whatever way I can." — Michelle Cordeiro Grant, founder & CEO of LIVELY

Paulina Liffner von Sydow, Founder of Little Liffner

"2017 is the year I'll live by the motto, “Don't give up what you want most, for what you want now.” Working in the fashion industry, I feel it's easy to get caught up in the rat race of more is more. My resolution is to be more conscious of how I spend my time in order to be as positive and productive as I can be, while keeping my focus on what really matters." — Paulina Liffner von Sydow, founder of Little Liffner
